Fantastic posting,i am fed up searching for saree blouse cutting tutorial online atlast i found ur blog, the cutting method seems to be very practical please update with sleeve, belt & other informations.
hi tamil nadu friend! The reason is When subtracting 1.5" from the bust measurement and the answer comes out as 34" or less the blouse pattern to be made is size SMALL. If the answer is 34 or 36" then the blouse pattern to be made is size LARGE. The height of the ragal line is measured differently for small and large sizes. For small sizes the ragal line height would be the bust measurement divided by 4.For lager sizes it would be the shoulder to shoulder measurement divide by 2.Hope this helps!
could you please send me step by step cutting method for saree blouse,as i have started to learn to stitch saree blouse. It will be much appreciated if you can do that.thank you.rozena
Hi, I'll try to put up some images of how the pattern will look like once drawn. As for cutting the blouse ;the stitching allowance is included in the pattern so cut along the pattern and mark the stitching allowance to stitch the blouse.
Just started to sew a saree blouse form your helpful drafts...
Do i really need to add shoulder slope of 3/4 " no matter how much is the shoulder width?
Even for a 1" shoulder blouse?
My actual shoulder width is 13 " but i have a designer blouse which has only 10.5 " shoulder width but it still fits me perfectly with a very broad round neck. It doesn't look like it has shoulder slope.
I am now wondering if how armhole, shoulder slope varies with shoulder width?
Hi, This is Priya From B'lore. Look into the Pic which you have posted above, it does not not describes the clear measurement. Request you to provide the viewers a clear Image with all the measuring calculations req. and also the ease allowances so that it will be helpful for the beginners.
Thank you so much for this amazing post - and for putting in so much time and effort to do the graphics and to explain things in great detail. I am sure a lot of people appreciate it as much as I have.
I am drafting four blouse patterns for an upcoming dance concert. After doing a few I realised that I did not get to use the "Sh-bracut" measurement. Could you please tell me if this is required and where I should use it? I really hope that you will get this message in time as I need to start stitching soon.
Hi SRJ, Hope this reply is not too late. You are right. You don't need the sh-bracut measurement for this blouse since its just a dart blouse.I wanted to explain how to get that measurement so that it would be easier to explain when I do my bracut blouse post.Thank you for your lovely comment!
Thanks a lot for this tutorial its the best I have found so far online. Just need some clarifications.
In the above pattern, B-D is around 9", so if D-E is 4", and B-F is 3" there is hardly any space btwn E-F. Pls confirm the measurements given here is right? Whereas for the Bra-cut blouse its different. After that I see you have mentioned to take F-O AND F-W but in the diagram I can't see F and O joined or F and W joined. Kindly clarify this.
Also can you pls tell the difference btwn normal blouse and bra-cut blouse?
